Model a Dolls Head with Cold Porcelain [video]

Today we have a 2-part video demo by Rosangela Alencar, showing her methods for shaping a cold porcelain (CP) doll's head. Well worth watching to see how she neatly wraps the Styrofoam ball with CP and shapes the head.  It's amazing how quickly she shapes a nose!  She makes it look so easy!! ;-)

Also take note of how she uses her fingers to measure placement of mouth and chin and how she forms neck at the same time she is shaping those pudgy cheeks!

  3. How long would it take for a head this size to dry?

    1. Not too long. Maybe overnight or 1 - 2 days. Depends on a lot of things, the clay, the weather, how thick the CP is on the Styrofoam ball. The thickness of the CP probably has the most influence on drying time, that's one reason to use the foam ball armature for the head. An even thickness also has less chance of cracks because of even drying.

  4. I live in Calgary, we use ducted heating 24x7 during winter... any tips on living at high altitude and in a ducted heating environment at all please? Thanks.

Thank you very much for taking the time to comment! ;-)
Sorry I had to re-instate the 'word verification'...I'm getting far too much spam in the comment box.
